Although a minority group of conservatives still cling to the point that we can do without schooling, majority of the population in the world unanimously second the fact that education is what has cropped into the world’s social and economic blossom. Most of the people in our society today with well to do families have acquired at least the best formal education. Today in Uganda particularly, education is still believed the “key to success”. Most of the people who are below the poverty line, can barely afford 2 meals a day, wondering on the streets in search for a living but in vain, are the uneducated ones, the illiterate. They are therefore subjected to very harsh conditions like starvation, homelessness, street life among others. This therefore explains the reason why Delight foundation Africa has put education at the fore front as one of its objectives/aims. This is being done through sponsorship in the likes of school fees, scholastic materials, and food at school for the street and children and those who cannot completely afford to go to school.

The foundation also aims at promoting the children to at least second class schools as the first class is the cheapest with the lowest quality of education in both primary and secondary level. The children at the foundation are monitored and supervised both at school and at home to ensure they have the best performance. In the primary level which extends for 7 years, three terms each year costs at least 105 dollars per year. The secondary level which extends to 6 years with 3 terms each costs 216 dollars per year. The education in higher institutions is quite expensive and the hardest to acquire for many Ugandans. The years vary according to the course pursued but most of them are between 3 to 5 years costly at least 600 dollars and yet 2 semesters is what makes up one academic year. Delight foundation Africa therefore believes that through education, many vulnerable children and youths subjected to suffering especially the orphans and the destitute homeless children can be helped to gain self-confidence and realize their place in the world.
